Be Caring
Annual Review 2021

Welcome to Be Caring’s 2021 Annual Review.

In this report we offer an overview of our work throughout the last year, both our achievements and challenges. We also share where we are on our journey as an employee-owned social enterprise seeking to influence reform and redesign of the UK Care sector; we believe it our duty to represent our colleagues and our customers in the pursuit of a system that is fit for purpose and focussed on meeting the needs of the people we care for.

In what has been a challenging year for our industry, Be Caring has continued to work hard to provide our service users – our customers – with a high quality of care and support in their homes across Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool.

The COVID pandemic has continued to add complexity and challenge to the management, coordination, and delivery of domiciliary care. However, Be Caring has come through the year stronger, more resilient, and more determined than ever to deliver the outstanding person-centered care that the people we support deserve.

At Be Caring we are proud of what we have achieved this year; our response to COVID-19 and our colleagues’ determination to step up to the challenge, both immediately and as the months of isolation and social distancing have continued, has been and continues to be hugely impressive. Feedback from those we support tells a story of kindness, professionalism and commitment.

For the second year running our strong financial management has resulted in a surplus. We have been able to direct this towards those working hard in such difficult personal and professional circumstances, via rewards, recognition bonuses and incentives.

In this review you can read the reports from our Chief Executive and Chair as they share their thoughts on the last year; review our financial performance and learn more about how we are governed. But most importantly, you can see how we have lived our values and the commitment we have to every single person that helps make Be Caring what it is – our colleagues and those we care for.
